NACC THEATRE IS NO STRANGER TO SUCCESS, EITHER.
Last year more people attended performances than the previous year. Over 16,000 people attended the performances for the 1999-2000 Season.

The Gospel-tinged SMOKE comes back for a sequel.

This season will open December 1 with the musical comedy SANDERS FAMILY CHRISTMAS and it will play the following dates December 1,2, 3, 7, 8, 9,&10.

The Sanders family (six members) has come to a small Baptist Church (represented solely by the pastor) for a Christmas Eve 1941 service of gospel songs and carols. The number of instruments on stage is amazing, and even more amazing is that almost everyone in the cast can play several of them. The voices are nice in harmony.

The Summer production will be the Frank Baum musical,The Wizard of OZ.

Little Dorothy Gail of Kansas, like so many girls her age, dreams frequently of what lies over the rainbow. One day a twister hits her home town and carries her away- over the rainbow.
At the other end of the rainbow, she finds herself in picturesque Munchkinland; home of the fascinating people, the Munchkins. In this famous land of Oz, Dorothy meets he first fairyland figure ; the sorceress of the North.
The Munchkins fete Dorothy as a heroine, because in landing, her house has accidentally killed the Wicked Witch of the East, who had long tormented the Munchkins. Dorothy wants to return to Kansas, fearing her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry will worry about her.
The Sorceress advises Dorothy that only the great Wizard of Oz can help her get back to Kansas. The girl is directed to Wizard’s palace in Emerald City. But Dorothy has an enemy -the Wicked Witch of the West, sister of the dead witch-who vows revenge. The witch is frightened away on her first encounter with Dorothy by a mark, which the Sorceress has placed on Dorothy’s forehead.
Dorothy persuades three friends to accompany her on the trip to see the Wizard. They are the Scarecrow, who is promised a brain; the Tinman who wants a heart; and the Cowardly Lion, who needs courage.
The four travelers finally reach the Emerald City despite several attempts by the Wicked Witch to stop their journey. They meet the troublesome “jitterbugs,” but the Sorceress saves them from being danced to death.
When Dorothy and her friends meet the Wizard, promises to help them only after they have killed the Wicked Witch of the West. But the Witch, learning of their plans, schemes to kill them. Dorothy and friends evade the Witch’s trap and literally turn on her, a cauldron she had prepared for them.
In a glamorous setting the Wizard grants the wishes of the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly Lion, and accompanies Dorothy back to Kansas in a rocket ship.
